It's New Year's Eve

2008 seems to have gone by so fast.

Christmas was wonderful, the girls all loved each present. Despite the fact they slept in until 9:30, they were excited to start opening the gifts on Christmas morning. The playroom is overflowing and we have already bagged up 3 bags of old toys. I really have a lot to be doing right now since I want to ring in the New Year with a clean house, but I just wanted to pop in and give a little update. Though not much is going on there are a few things. :)

We are all battling a cold right now but poor K and L got the worst of it, both have a stuffy nose and cough. The rest of us just have one or the other. We will all recover though and I am thankful it isn't worse.

Last night Chocolate kept me up with her barking, I would go out and check on her and tell her to hush but she wouldn't stop. When 5:45 rolled around I knew that something was not right, so I stood at the dining room window and watched her. It was scary to witness an animal bigger than a squirrel walking up to the tree near her and staring at her. At first I thought it was a big fluffy cat, but after watching it's mannerisms I noticed something was off. Well, fear struck my heart as I thought that Chocolate could get attacked by this [possibly] rabid animal and be hurt. So I took my broom and walked outside to bring her inside to safety. The animal was now in the tree holding itself between the two big trunks and staring right at her. It was a raccoon! I couldn't believe it... mainly because we are 10 seconds away from a major road and town. So I brought Choc in (watching my back the entire time thinking it would jump me) and went back outside to get a picture of this thing so that people would believe me. I did manage to get a picture but it isn't very good since it was dark outside and the camera wouldn't focus on anything.. AND I was too scared to get too close so I used my zoom. So that was my adventure this early morning and if I don't take a nap today then I will be celebrating the new year early and going to bed at 9. :)

So there is a story for you today, maybe not a good one, but a story nonetheless. Happy New Year!
